Porcelain Tile Sizes: Choosing Between 600×1200mm and 800×1600mm Slabs
How large-format porcelain slabs minimize grout joints and amplify spatial luxury

600 × 1200 or 800 × 1600 mm: what changes?
A 600 × 1200 mm tile has an area of 0.72 m², while an 800 × 1600 mm tile covers 1.28 m². The larger format covers more area per piece. Actual joint counts, cuts and wastage depend on room dimensions, tile orientation and joint spacing.
Compare the current catalogue
Cevic currently lists nine products in 600 × 1200 mm and four in 800 × 1600 mm. Auris Statuario, Lavino White, Maximus Grey and Z-Black are listed in both formats. Check each product’s applications: Maximus Grey is tagged for wall and elevation rather than floor use.
What should the installer check?
Before choosing a larger format, discuss delivery access, handling, substrate preparation, adhesive suitability and the layout with the installer. Obtain installation guidance for the selected product rather than assuming a universal grout joint or laying method.
Estimate quantity without assuming packing
Calculate net surface area and agree a cutting allowance for the actual layout. Use the calculator to estimate tile and box quantities, entering the pieces-per-box figure confirmed by the supplier. Packing quantities are not determined by tile size alone.
